Dalia, the latest from the Broadway Restaurant Group, officially opened its doors on Thursday, April 2, bringing a wood-fired Spanish restaurant to West Broadway in South Boston. The chef-driven spot is all about live flame, centering its menu on an open kitchen lined with wood-fired equipment and live-fire grills. Multiple bars and a series of roomlike dining areas are set up to handle everything from a quick round of tapas and pintxos to full-on paella nights. For now, Dalia is sticking to dinner service, with the team planning to roll out daytime cafe hours with coffee, pastries and brunch in the coming months, as per Boston.com.
“A lot of people…feel they’re being transported to Spain,” said executive chef and Broadway Restaurant Group culinary director Nick Dixon, in comments reported by Boston.com. That outlet also notes that Dalia opens for dinner service and will stay open late on a nightly schedule as the operation ramps up.
Design That Channels Spain
The dining room comes from Assembly Design Studio, which took a large footprint and broke it into a series of more intimate, varied rooms under a plant-filled skylight, according to Boston Magazine. The space is layered with handmade Spanish tiles, custom lamps sourced from Valencia and a tableside jamón cart. Assembly cofounder Erica Diskin told the magazine the goal was to make the expansive restaurant feel more like wandering through the rooms of a house than sitting in one giant hall.
Menu Highlights and Price Points
Per Boston.com, Dalia’s lineup of small plates, crudo and tapas lands roughly in the $9 to $22 range, while larger entrees run from about $45 up to $170. The three paellas, each offered in two sizes, are priced at around $18 to $38. Early standouts on the opening menus include a wagyu rib cap robata at $22 and a lengthwise-cut calamari dish styled like dan dan noodles at $17. Behind the bar, beverage director Katie Kelly’s cocktail list features $15 drinks, and wine director Dominic Tramelli has assembled a Spanish-forward wine list with glasses starting near $11. The 226-seat dining room packs in three bars plus counter seating that faces the open kitchen, setting Dalia up for both cozy date nights and big, shareable paella spreads.
Where Dalia Fits in Southie
Dalia is the Broadway Restaurant Group’s first Spanish concept and joins a local stable that already includes Lincoln Tavern and Prima, a move previously covered by NBC Boston. The restaurant posts its address and reservation details on its website at daliaboston.com, and a downstairs lounge plus expanded daytime offerings are still on the rollout schedule, according to Boston Magazine.
With ambitious sourcing from Spain, a dramatic, camera-ready interior and a clear focus on live-fire technique, Dalia appears set up to become both a neighborhood favorite and a citywide paella draw as the kitchen and cafe hours settle in. Expect reservations and those front-row counter seats to get competitive once brunch and daytime service officially land.
