A family drive in Temecula turned frightening for Tori Spelling on Thursday evening, when a two-car collision sent the actress and four of her children to local hospitals with cuts, bruises, and suspected concussions. Eight people in total were checked out by first responders at the scene, and multiple ambulances were called in. Authorities said no arrests were made.
What authorities say
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a reported crash in Temecula at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday and arrived to find two vehicles with visible collision damage, according to E! News. Officials told outlets that all occupants were evaluated at the scene, and several people were then transported to nearby hospitals for additional treatment.
How the crash unfolded
TMZ reports that Spelling was behind the wheel with seven children in the vehicle, four of her own and three of their friends, when another driver allegedly sped through a red light and slammed into them. The outlet says Spelling and the kids were split up into three ambulances and taken to different hospitals, where they were treated for injuries that included concussions, contusions, cuts, and bruises.
Injuries and immediate response
Multiple outlets have detailed the children’s ages and noted that four of Spelling’s five children with ex-husband Dean McDermott required hospital care after the crash. Spelling, 52, was also treated. The sequence of the April 2 collision and the emergency response, including the number of patients transported and the injuries described, was laid out in reporting by Cleveland.com.
Not her first scare
This is not the first time one of Spelling’s drives with her kids has made headlines. Outlets have revisited a 2011 incident in which she said paparazzi were involved after she hit a wall while her children were in the car. That history goes a long way toward explaining why eyewitness video and quick statements from Thursday’s crash scene drew such fast attention from both local and national media, according to earlier coverage by TMZ.
Authorities say the Temecula collision remains under investigation and confirm that no arrests were made at the scene. Spelling’s representative has acknowledged the incident to outlets, and the family is asking for privacy while they recover.
