A violent street assault in Towson has residents on edge after a video shared across social media showed nine juveniles punching and stomping an unidentified person on the unit block of Lambourne Road on Monday, according to Baltimore County police. The clip appears to show a group surrounding the victim, hitting and kicking them repeatedly before scattering. Police say the encounter started as an argument tied to a school and involved young people who already knew one another. The footage has renewed frustration over recurring teen trouble in the downtown Towson area.
What police say
According to WMAR-2 News, Baltimore County police confirmed that the video depicts juveniles punching and stomping an unidentified person on Lambourne Road. Investigators told the station they have identified nine juveniles connected to the incident and that charges are pending. Police said the teens know each other and that the altercation grew out of a school-related argument.
Towson's pattern
The incident fits into a pattern that Towson residents and business owners say they have seen too often in recent years: big crowds of teens drawing heavy police responses downtown. CBS Baltimore has documented earlier episodes where officers shut down streets, called in special units and made multiple arrests after unsanctioned "link-ups" and disturbances near the mall area, while WBAL reported on recent arrests tied to fights near Towson Town Center. Local business owners and officials have for years urged parents and schools to help rein in these unsanctioned gatherings before they turn chaotic.
What happens next
Baltimore County police told WMAR-2 News that the investigation is still active and that charges remain pending against the identified juveniles. In Maryland, most delinquency cases go through juvenile court, and the state's Maryland Department of Juvenile Services manages intake and pre-adjudication services, which can lead to diversion, supervision or formal petitions depending on the circumstances. Authorities have not released the juveniles' ages or said whether anyone had been taken into custody as of the initial report.
