Volunteer and county fire crews flooded into the Shane Valley area of White Hall last night as a large brush fire lit up the rural hillside and triggered warnings for drivers and nearby residents. Firefighters cut in from several sides to establish containment lines while other emergency personnel tried to keep traffic from tangling with engines and tankers on the narrow country roads. Units from across northern Baltimore County were pulled in as the blaze spread through the dry brush.
As reported by FOX45, the fire was located in the Shane Valley neighborhood, and responding units included the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighters Association, Baltimore County Fire Department, Hereford Volunteer Fire Company, Norrisville Volunteer Fire Company, Parkton Fire Station #60, Eureka Volunteer Fire Department, Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, and Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Company. Officials urged residents to use caution on West Liberty, Kirkwood Shop, and Anderson roads while crews operated, and the photograph published with that report was credited to the Maryland Line Volunteer Fire Company.
Brush-fire activity near Anderson Road
This section of northern Baltimore County has seen more than its share of brush-fire activity lately. Earlier this month, SkyTeam 11 reported a brush fire in the 3000 block of Anderson Road that burned several acres and was knocked down in about thirty minutes with no reported injuries or structural damage, according to WBAL‑TV. That earlier incident and Tuesday's blaze both highlight how quickly dry, wooded parcels can turn into hazards for rural roads and pull-off spots in the area.
Roads and safety
Officials asked drivers to steer clear of the immediate area and to follow updates from local emergency channels while crews finish their work at the scene. Residents with respiratory issues are advised to limit outdoor activity until the smoke clears and to keep an eye on local advisories for any road closures and air-quality updates. This report will be updated as county fire officials release details on containment, possible causes, and any damage assessments.
