Windcrest police said the suspected shooter later walked into the San Antonio Police Department to turn themselves in and was transferred into Windcrest custody. The case remains under investigation, and police have not released the names of anyone involved.

Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a business in the 5000 block of Walzem Road, according to KSAT. San Antonio police told KSAT that one person was taken to a hospital with an injury described as “critical.”

As reported by KSAT, the alleged shooter turned themselves in to the San Antonio Police Department and was then transferred into Windcrest custody. KSAT also reported that the shooting remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the names of the victim or the suspect, and it was not immediately clear whether charges had been filed.
Walzem Road's recent history
Walzem Road and the nearby Windcrest Square shopping area have seen violence before. MySA reported a 2020 shooting at Windcrest Square that left two teens in critical condition, and KTSA covered a separate August 2020 incident in which an 11‑year‑old and a woman were struck by stray bullets along Walzem Road.
