Yesterday, Baltimore City leaders rolled out a major healthcare shuffle in West Baltimore, moving the Druid Health Clinic’s services into a Total Health Care facility and turning it into a single site meant to centralize care for neighborhood residents. Under the new setup, primary care, pediatrics, dental services, OB-GYN care, walk-in urgent care, behavioral and social-health supports, and an on-site pharmacy all operate under one roof. City officials framed the move as a concrete step toward removing long-standing barriers to care in historically underserved neighborhoods.
As reported by WBAL NewsRadio, Mayor Brandon Scott called the arrangement a "one-stop shop" for residents and said the site will consolidate multiple services in one place. Baltimore City Council President Zeke Cohen told the outlet the collaboration "gives residents care with dignity" while shoring up a longtime community resource. City officials said the announcement was also meant to reassure neighbors that services will stay close to home even as longer-term building plans move ahead.
Shared Space At Total Health Care
According to the Baltimore City Health Department, the city’s West Baltimore sexual health and family planning services have been moved into a shared space at Total Health Care's Saratoga Health Center at 1501 W. Saratoga Street. The department says city staff will keep offering the same clinical services at the new location and is providing free bus tokens at the Druid Health Center site, 1515 W. North Avenue, for patients who need help getting to appointments. Officials describe the shared-space setup as a way to keep services in the neighborhood while renovations or a replacement facility are planned.
Why The Shift Happened
The transition follows an inspector general visit and local reporting that flagged dangerously hot temperatures and pest problems at the Druid Health Center, issues that led the city to move some services off-site last year, according to CBS Baltimore. City notices published in fall 2025 laid out a phased relocation of family planning and sexual health services to Total Health Care after repeated building-maintenance problems. City planners say a longer-term renovation or new site is still in the works, and the partnership is meant to keep care continuous in the meantime.
What It Means For Patients
Total Health Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center that says it serves nearly 30,000 adults and children each year, runs a wide range of services from primary care to behavioral health and pharmacy, a capacity that leaders say can absorb services moving from the Druid site. Pulling multiple services into one building can cut travel time, simplify referrals, and lower the odds that patients skip needed follow-ups, local advocates note. City officials are pitching the partnership as a way to expand access while keeping longstanding neighborhood programs rooted where residents already are.
How To Get Care
Patients looking to schedule appointments at the Saratoga site can call Total Health Care’s main number, 410-383-8300. Local reporting also lists Baltimore City Health Department contacts for Family Planning (410-396-9401) and Sexual Health & Wellness (410-396-9410) for immediate questions. Per WMAR-2 News, the Family Planning and Sexual Health & Wellness clinic briefly closed during last year’s transition, and the city posted guidance on where to pick up bus tokens and how to schedule visits. Residents are urged to check directly with the Baltimore City Health Department or Total Health Care for the latest hours and walk-in policies.
City leaders say the partnership keeps critical services available while longer-term fixes at the Druid Health Center site are worked out, and they position the move as one piece of a broader push to knock down barriers to care in West Baltimore.
