Two people were rushed to the hospital after a late-night house fire in Cincinnati's Westwood neighborhood on Tuesday, with one victim in critical condition and the other seriously hurt. Officials have not released the ages of those injured or said how the fire began.
What officials said
According to the Cincinnati Fire Department, the blaze broke out in the 3100 block of West Tower Avenue. Firefighters transported both victims to nearby hospitals, describing one person's injuries as serious and the other's as critical. Investigators have not yet identified a cause for the fire. Those details were reported by WLWT.
Neighborhood context
This is not the first serious fire to hit Westwood in recent months. In October, an apartment fire sent three people to the hospital and forced 28 residents from their homes. Hoodline covered that earlier incident in its piece 28 Residents Displaced, which noted that the Red Cross stepped in to assist affected families.
What’s next
The Cincinnati Fire Department is investigating how the West Tower Avenue fire started and assessing the extent of the damage. WLWT reported that it had a crew at the scene and plans to update its coverage as more information is released.
