Seattle police are asking for the public’s help tracking down a man they say carried out a brutal robbery at a Pioneer Square corner store, leaving two employees seriously hurt in the middle of the workday.

The attack happened the afternoon of March 26 at Saveway Market near Yesler Way and Occidental Avenue South. According to police, the suspect assaulted two workers and took off before officers could get there. A 27-year-old employee suffered significant facial injuries, and a 35-year-old worker was left with head trauma.

According to FOX 13 Seattle, officers say the man struck the two employees while stealing a glass wine bottle, then simply walked away from the store. The station reports the suspect is described as a Black man, 20 to 30 years old, with a slim build, about 5-foot-9, wearing a white long-sleeve shirt with a rectangular logo, black sweatpants, black athletic shoes, a white face mask, and a white T-shirt pulled over his head. Police told FOX 13 the suspect is considered assaultive and dangerous and urged anyone with information to call 911 or the Seattle Police Department Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.

Saveway Market, at 109 Occidental Ave S just southwest of the Smith Tower, is a familiar stop for Pioneer Square workers and visitors. The fact that the attack unfolded inside a small, busy market has rattled nearby businesses and regulars who frequent the block.
