According to WFTV, deputies arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m. Monday, located the injured woman in her 50s, and transported her to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The outlet reports that “Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting. No additional information has been released.”
A string of violent incidents this spring
The fatal shooting is the latest in a run of violent incidents that have hit Apopka in recent months. In March, a shooting on West 12th Street left multiple people wounded, and one person later died, as reported by FOX 35. Then, in mid-May, a shooting at Rock Springs Mobile Home Park injured a teenager, according to The Apopka Chief.
Investigation status
In the latest case on South Central Avenue, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not released a suspect description or possible motive, and detectives are continuing to canvass the area and follow up on leads. WFTV notes that authorities had not provided additional details in their most recent update.
Neighbors and next steps
Local reporting indicates residents are on edge after the recent shootings, and the sheriff’s office has frequently released only brief statements while investigators process active crime scenes. Following the mid-May mobile-home park shooting, the agency told The Apopka Chief, “We have no further information to release at this time.”
This story will be updated if the Orange County Sheriff’s Office or local outlets release additional information. For now, anyone watching this case will have to rely on official statements and local news updates as detectives continue their work.
