A person was pulled from the Little Neshaminy Creek near the Route 611 (Easton Road) bridge in Warrington Township on Friday afternoon and later died, officials said. The discovery prompted a multi-agency response and temporary road closures on the Easton Road overpass while crews worked along the creek.
Dispatchers logged the call at about 1:16 p.m., and crews headed to the Route 611 crossing after reports of someone in the water. Rescuers used a rope system to haul the person and first responders up the embankment, but the individual was later pronounced dead, according to NBC10 Philadelphia.
Where It Happened
The recovery took place near the Easton Road/Route 611 overpass beside the Creekview Shopping Center, the Lowe’s and Target complex, after initial dispatches described a possible marine rescue. Reports from the scene said a light-skinned adult male was removed from the water and covered on the bank, and that Easton Road was blocked at Street Road while responders remained on site, according to Central Bucks Now.
Emergency Response
Warrington Township police officers, local fire companies and ambulance crews responded to the call, and the Bucks County coroner was expected at the scene as crews secured the area. Authorities have not released the person’s identity or explained what led to them being in the water, per NBC10 Philadelphia.
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office was expected to examine the scene and determine the cause of death while local investigators continue to piece together what happened, Central Bucks Now reported. This story will be updated as officials release more information.
