The NYPD is asking Bronx residents to help track down two people caught on surveillance who are wanted in a robbery pattern stretching across three local precincts. Detectives say the incidents happened in the 42nd, 48th and 49th Precincts, all in the Bronx. Investigators released still images on Tuesday and urged anyone who recognizes the pair to contact Crime Stoppers.
What the bulletin says
According to NYPD Crime Stoppers on Facebook, the alert includes surveillance stills of two individuals and lays out a robbery pattern spanning the 42nd, 48th and 49th Precincts. The department is asking for tips as well as any home or doorbell camera footage that might help identify the people shown. No names or specific charges were released in the post.
How to send tips
Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips by phone at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and, for Spanish speakers, at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782), according to the city's NYPD. Tips can also be submitted online through NYPD Online or by messaging the department's tip account, @NYPDTips, on X. The program notes that information leading to an arrest and indictment may qualify for a reward of up to $3,500.
Where the pattern hit
The 42nd, 48th and 49th Precincts all sit in the Bronx, covering parts of central and east Bronx neighborhoods that include Morrisania, Belmont and Morris Park. Those areas fall within the precincts' mapped coverage zones, according to neighborhood profiles and precinct maps; see Wikipedia for one example.
Why police posted this
After robberies, detectives routinely ask neighbors to review doorbell, hallway and cellphone video for anything that could help a case, and Crime Stoppers bulletins have been a go to tool this spring for tracking moped and transit-related robbery crews. Hoodline reported earlier this month on a moped-driven chain snatch crew that hit across the Bronx and parts of Queens, and police similarly urged the public in that case to comb through local camera footage.
If you recognize the people in the images or have video that might help investigators, hold on to the original files, note the time and location, and contact Crime Stoppers. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
