Three men are on the run after a cross-borough robbery spree that stretched from the Bronx to Brooklyn and left a 10-year-old caught in the middle, according to police. Investigators say the crew focused on street robberies, ripping chains and grabbing jackets, and walked away with more than $10,000 in cash and property over roughly two months. Detectives are urging anyone with video or information to get in touch with NYPD Crime Stoppers.
Police laid out a tight timeline. It starts on March 9 outside 210 St. Anne’s Avenue, then moves to March 11 near Brook Avenue and East 142nd Street, where a firearm was displayed and roughly $80 was taken. On March 24, near East 142nd Street and St. Ann’s Avenue, a 10-year-old was threatened with a knife. The crew then popped up in Brooklyn on March 26 near Beverley Road and East 16th Street, before striking again in the Bronx on April 12, when a 63-year-old suffered minor injuries. Detectives say the men tried to rip another chain on May 4, bringing the series to more than $10,000 in stolen cash and property, as reported by News12.
Robbery pattern jumps boroughs as cops lean on cameras
To track small street crews like this, local detectives are leaning hard on Crime Stoppers bulletins and surveillance stills, and they say community video often makes or breaks a case. In a recent Bronx pattern, the NYPD asked neighbors to share any camera footage after a related robbery pattern hit several Bronx precincts and urged residents to check their doorbell and hallway cameras. Police say those clips can be the missing piece that identifies suspects and pushes an investigation forward.
How to help investigators
Anyone who witnessed these incidents or has video is asked to keep the original files intact and contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online, per the city’s guidance. The program accepts anonymous tips and may offer rewards for information that leads to an arrest, and Spanish-language assistance is available at 1-888-57-PISTA. Callers and videographers are urged to preserve original, unedited footage to help detectives in their review.
As of May 14, police had not announced any arrests in the pattern and are still appealing for witnesses and video, News12 reported. Anyone with relevant footage or information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the detectives handling the case so investigators can follow up.
