New York's Magnolia Bakery, the West Village darling famous for red velvet cupcakes and banana pudding, is finally on its way to Utah. The cult favorite is slated to launch its first local storefront in Holladay this June, landing inside the new Holladay Hills development.
According to KSL, the first Utah franchise is scheduled to open in June 2026 at Holladay Hills, with a second Magnolia Bakery planned for Foothill Village in Salt Lake City later in the year. Magnolia told the outlet it is bringing the full New York lineup to the Wasatch Front, including cupcakes, cakes, cheesecake, pies, cookies and its signature "World‑Famous Banana Pudding."
The Salt Lake Tribune captured photos of the Holladay storefront on May 5, 2026, showing signage up and interior work in progress. The Tribune also points out that Magnolia's cupcakes picked up a devoted following after memorable screen time in "Sex and the City" and "The Devil Wears Prada," which helped cement the brand's pop culture cred.
Where It Will Sit
Holladay Hills is a mixed‑use redevelopment on the former Cottonwood Mall site, and developer materials list Magnolia as one of the new neighborhood perks. In a press release carried by Business Wire, Tri Pointe Homes highlights Magnolia Bakery and Trader Joe's as planned tenants for the Aspire at Holladay Hills project.
What To Expect On Opening Day
Magnolia told KSL that the Holladay shop will feature the brand's greatest hits for its Utah debut, including cupcakes, pies, cookies and plenty of banana pudding. Given Magnolia's history of drawing long lines at its original West Village location, Holladay residents should brace for a steady stream of dessert fans on opening weekend.
Local job listings already show front‑of‑house and baking positions tied to the Holladay Magnolia, signaling that staffing is underway ahead of the launch. For those plotting their first pudding run, keep an eye on Magnolia's local channels and Holladay Hills announcements for a firm grand opening date and any planned special events.
