Hyde Park Square’s morning crowd just picked up a new habit. Dovetale Bakery slipped into the neighborhood this spring, setting up shop just off the square with laminated croissants, sourdough loaves and espresso geared toward shoppers, dog walkers, and commuters streaming through the area.
The compact spot is built to work as a bakery-and-coffee hybrid, with just enough room for regulars to grab a pastry, linger over a shot of espresso or hustle out the door with something flaky in hand.
What They're Baking
The owners say the shop is zeroing in on laminated pastries and daily breads, alongside crafted espresso drinks for both to-go and sit-down customers. According to the Cincinnati Business Courier, two chefs are working out of a tight back-of-house kitchen to turn out those laminated pastries and sourdough loaves.
The game plan is simple but ambitious: keep the menu focused at first, then build it out once the kitchen finds its rhythm.
Location and Hours
Dovetale sits at 3441 Edwards Road, a block off Hyde Park Square, close enough to catch the neighborhood’s daily foot traffic without being directly in the crush of the central intersection.
The bakery is operating on limited morning hours while it settles in. As reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer and republished on AOL, posted hours run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Company Records
Public filings suggest this debut has been a long time coming. Documents with the Ohio Secretary of State show Dovetale Bakery LLC was formed on Feb. 1, 2025, indicating the owners have been laying the groundwork for more than a year.
The corporate paperwork lists the business name as Dovetale Bakery LLC, matching the branding now on display at the shop.
Hyde Park's Morning Market
Hyde Park Square has long been a dense neighborhood retail hub, the kind of place where coffee shops and specialty food businesses rarely sit empty. That makes a morning-focused counter bakery a logical play in a district where grabbing a pastry on the way to everything else is practically a local pastime.
The neighborhood association catalogs dozens of dining and retail spots circling the square, highlighting exactly the kind of built-in foot traffic new operators covet, according to Hyde Park Square.
Against that backdrop, Dovetale’s owners told the Cincinnati Business Courier they hope the business will meet Hyde Park’s need for a combined bakery and coffee shop, with plans to expand the menu as the kitchen ramps up.
For now, the first wave of laminated croissants, sandwiches, and daily loaves will serve as the neighborhood’s early taste test of whether Dovetale becomes part of Hyde Park’s regular morning routine.
