What started as a crash in downtown St. Louis ended with a 23-year-old Florissant man in jail, a discarded handgun on the pavement, and suspected cocaine booked into evidence, according to police.
Officers say the man, identified as Rodney Holt, wrecked a stolen vehicle on Friday, then bolted from the scene on foot. As he ran, police allege he tossed a handgun, which detectives later recovered. Investigators also seized a pill bottle that held white, rock-like fragments that were identified as cocaine. The vehicle itself had been reported stolen out of Maryland Heights, and police say a victim’s quick report and license-plate number helped them track it down.
As reported by FOX2, a patrol officer spotted the damaged vehicle shortly after the crash and saw Holt and two other people scatter from the car. According to police, Holt dropped a firearm while he ran and detectives seized the weapon at the scene.
