A former Calhoun police officer now finds himself on the other side of the law, alongside two Chatsworth residents, after authorities say a man and a woman were targeted in a shooting along County Farm Road in Whitfield County. The incident happened on Wednesday, May 6, and the case is still very much alive as state investigators continue processing evidence. Officials say the arrests stem from allegations that two of the suspects trailed the victims and fed false information to authorities to help the shooter track them down.

GBI Names Former Cop, Two Others in Roadside Attack

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified the three people arrested as 44-year-old Jorge Alejandro Gonzalez, 28-year-old former Calhoun officer Jose Neo Rodriguez, and 27-year-old Adrianna Gonzalez. Investigators allege Rodriguez and Adrianna Gonzalez helped locate and follow the man and woman before the shots were fired, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.

Charges, Bookings and a Tight Timeline

In a detailed release, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Jorge Gonzalez has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Rodriguez and Adrianna Gonzalez are facing charges of making false statements to law enforcement, stalking and aggravated assault.

The GBI says Jorge Gonzalez was arrested and booked into the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Detention Center on May 6. Rodriguez and Adrianna Gonzalez were taken into custody a week later, on May 13, and were also booked into the same facility. Once the investigative legwork is wrapped up, the GBI plans to hand the case over to the Conasauga District Attorney’s Office to review for possible prosecution.

Motive Still a Mystery

Authorities are keeping a tight lid on some details. A motive for the shooting has not been released, and it remains unclear whether the suspects and the victims knew each other before the roadside encounter, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Multiple agencies are involved as investigators work to map out exactly how the confrontation unfolded along County Farm Road.

What Happens Next and How to Help

The GBI says the investigation is ongoing and, once complete, will be turned over to the Conasauga District Attorney’s Office. Anyone who might have seen something or heard something is urged to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Calhoun at 706-624-1424. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS or by using the GBI's online tip form.

All three arrests are allegations at this stage, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in court. After reviewing the GBI’s findings, the Conasauga District Attorney will decide whether to file formal charges.
