Recent shootings around the city
The Walnut Street killing comes amid a run of shootings across Dallas this month, including a pair of overnight attacks in Deep Ellum that left a security officer dead and five others wounded, as reported by CBS News Texas. Hoodline has also reported several nearby incidents in recent weeks, including a May 2 shooting at a far-north Dallas strip center that briefly put investigators on the scene.
Detectives are urging anyone who was in the area early Tuesday or who may have relevant dash-camera or surveillance footage to come forward. This story will be updated as officials release more information.
