Flour House Bakers, the Tomball pop-up beloved for its true-Texas sourdough and preservative-free muffins, is finally getting a permanent home on Main Street this summer. After roughly a decade of selling at farmers markets and local events, owners Matt and Sarah Cross are turning that loyal following into a brick-and-mortar storefront. The new shop is set to keep the bakery's market favorites while adding coffee and sandwiches for a fuller breakfast-and-lunch lineup.
From farmers market to Main Street
According to a report from Community Impact, Flour House Bakers, which has been in business for about 10 years, is aiming for a late-summer opening at 214 W. Main St. in Old Town Tomball. The owners told the outlet the storefront menu will mirror their farmers market lineup while adding coffee and sandwiches. For the Crosses, that plan marks a notable step away from the market circuit and into a full-time downtown storefront.
The bakery's online storefront lists the Tomball Farmers Market as its regular pickup location and highlights the sourdough loaves, English muffins and rotating pastries that built the brand, according to the Flour House Bakers website. Customers can place orders online for market pickup, which could give the new Main Street shop a built-in audience on opening day. For now, Saturday market days remain the best way to taste the goods before the storefront opens.
What it means for Old Town Tomball
Local business trackers have already listed Flour House Bakers among Main Street's coming arrivals, a sign that downtown Tomball continues to reshape its retail mix. The Tomball Times includes the bakery on a "Coming Soon" roundup at 214 W. Main, joining other small operations planning openings this spring. Main Street's steady stream of openings and relocations is changing the stretch block by block.
The move follows recent churn on Main, from restaurant relocations to retirements, that local outlets have been tracking as Old Town refreshes its dining scene. Tejas Burger Joint relocated in one such change, a shift that helped free space for new concepts. For market regulars who have followed the Crosses' weekly tables, the storefront will feel like the next natural chapter for a neighborhood favorite.
Flour House has not set a firm opening date beyond "late summer." For updates on menus and ordering, check the Flour House Bakers website. Community Impact first reported the storefront plans. Until the doors open, Saturday's Tomball Farmers Market remains the place to find the Crosses' loaves and pastries.
