Gwinnett County detectives say a Norcross-area man accused of a string of brutal crimes against a child is on the run, and they are asking the public to help track him down. Investigators identified the suspect as Bernardo Antonio Romero-Linarte and said they do not know where he is.
Romero-Linarte is wanted on warrants that include kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, sexual battery, and child molestation, according to WSB-TV. Police say he was last known to be in the Norcross area. They are warning residents not to approach him if spotted and instead to call law enforcement immediately.
What Police Released
The Gwinnett County Police Department says it has obtained multiple active warrants in the case and is leaning on the community for tips, not confrontation. Officials are asking anyone who believes they have seen Romero-Linarte to call 911 right away. Non-emergency information can be reported directly to detectives at 770-513-5300, according to Gwinnett County.
How To Report Tips
Tipsters who do not want their names attached to the case can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 or submit information online through the group’s tip portal. Crime Stoppers may offer a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment, as reported by WSB-TV. Gwinnett officials stressed that members of the public should not try to detain the suspect themselves. Police want calls, not citizen arrests.
Legal Notes
The listed charges are felony accusations under Georgia law. Aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy carry some of the state’s most severe penalties. Statutory definitions and potential punishments are outlined on Justia and Justia. Romero-Linarte is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in court.
Detectives say the investigation is active and ongoing and are again urging anyone with information, no matter how small it might seem, to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers. If you think you have seen the suspect, call 911 immediately rather than trying to approach or engage him.
