
Two 39-year-old men from Holt were killed, and a 28-year-old Lansing man was left in critical condition after a violent single-vehicle crash today on northbound U.S. 127 at the I-96 crossing in Ingham County. Deputies said the two passengers died at the scene, while the driver was rushed to a Lansing-area hospital. The crash shut down the northbound side of the freeway for hours while investigators worked the scene, and the Ingham County Sheriff's Office is now asking witnesses to step up.
According to FOX 47, the vehicle left the roadway on northbound U.S. 127 and went across the I-96 interchange. Investigators told the outlet that both passengers died at the scene and the driver was critically injured. No names have been released while officials work through next-of-kin notifications.
WILX reported the crash was called in just after 3 a.m. and that multiple agencies, including Lansing Township Police, Michigan State University Police, East Lansing Police, and the Michigan State Police, assisted at the scene. The Ingham County Sheriff's Office told WILX that speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors.
Investigation Underway
The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team spent hours examining the vehicle and roadway for evidence as part of a detailed reconstruction. Officials said toxicology work and additional testing will be included in the investigation, and no arrests or charges had been announced as of Sunday, according to FOX 47.
