A man was stabbed multiple times this evening in west Fort Worth, and police say he may have been targeted by mistake. Officers responded to the 2800 block of Las Vegas Trail just before 7 p.m., and the victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries authorities described as non-life-threatening. The suspect remained at large while detectives worked to sort out what led up to the attack.
According to WFAA, officers found the wounded man at the scene and transported him to the hospital, where officials said his injuries did not appear life-threatening. Police told the station they believe he may have been mistaken for someone else, and that the suspect’s identity was still unknown at the time of reporting.
Area Has Seen Violence Before
A Fort Worth Police Department news release describes a May 1, 2024, drive-by shooting on Las Vegas Trail that wounded six people, including children, and led to multiple arrests. Coverage by The Dallas Morning News detailed that incident and its aftermath, underscoring how the corridor has repeatedly landed at the center of major violence investigations.
Surveillance And Community Debate
Neighbors and city officials have been wrestling with how to rein in violence along the corridor, which was included among five test zones for the city’s gunshot-detection pilot program, according to local reporting. That pilot has generated thousands of alerts but relatively few direct arrests, raising questions about whether the technology is actually improving public safety in neighborhoods like Las Vegas Trail, as Hoodline reported.
Police are asking anyone with information or video related to today’s stabbing to contact investigators at 817-392-4222 or through the department’s tip line. Detectives are continuing to collect evidence and urging residents to share any footage that might help identify the suspect.
