Brunches, the Wilmington-born brunch chain known for leaning hard into over-the-top daytime cocktails, has planted its first Charlotte flag near Oakhurst on Monroe Road. Diners can now chase stacks of pancakes, chicken and waffles and the overstuffed Brunches Burrito with mimosa towers, flights and espresso martinis poured in candy-like flavors. The splashy arrival adds yet another Instagram-ready weekend hangout to Charlotte's increasingly packed brunch circuit.
According to the Brunches' website, the Charlotte outpost sits at 4008 Monroe Rd and features online ordering links along with a local phone number. The site lists the restaurant alongside the brand's other Carolina and Mid-Atlantic locations and routes customers straight to its menus and ordering pages.
The debut rolled out as a two-day grand-opening party that promised free food for the first 100 guests and a VIP giveaway tied to an Instagram tag, as reported by The Charlotte Observer. "Come hungry, come early, and bring your people!" a weekend Instagram post urged, according to the paper. The Observer also lays out a menu that ranges from breakfast tot-chos and shrimp-and-grits bowls to breakfast sandwiches and the chain's theatrically styled drink program.
Oakhurst Commons And The Neighborhood Scene
Brunches was first announced for Oakhurst Commons last year as the project drew a mix of new dining and fitness tenants, a shift local coverage framed as part of a broader attempt to energize that stretch of Monroe Road, according to WhatNow Charlotte. The opening is meant to play off recent arrivals in the development and give nearby residents one more reason to stick close to home for midday and weekend plans.
Where The Brand Is Headed
The chain lists nine locations across the Carolinas and Virginia on its site and highlights additional markets, including Atlanta, Dallas and Nashville, as coming soon, per the Brunches' website. That growth spurt puts the Charlotte restaurant squarely in the middle of a wider push to take its cocktail-centric brunch model beyond Wilmington.
Brunches has also promoted industry-worker drink specials and to-go mimosa kits for those who would rather keep the party at home, The Charlotte Observer reports. Between the big plates, bigger drink presentations and the built-in appeal of a new brunch player, neighbors can probably count on busy weekends and early lines as the Monroe Road spot settles in.
