Nordstrom Rack is doubling down on the Westside and the South Bay, rolling out two new off-price outposts in 2027. A roughly 30,000-square-foot store is headed to Marina Marketplace in Marina del Rey in spring 2027, with another landing at Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance in summer 2027. Both centers are already busy with supermarkets, gyms and movie theaters, so bargain-minded shoppers in the Marina and the South Bay will soon be able to scoop up discounted name-brand apparel and home goods that usually live at full-line Nordstrom stores.
In a Nordstrom press release, the company confirmed the new locations and said both stores will offer services such as online order pickup from Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com along with easy returns. "We look forward to being a part of the Marina del Rey and Torrance communities and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices," Nordstrom Rack president Gemma Lionello said in the statement. The company did not include exact opening dates or hiring timelines in the announcement.
Where They'll Be
The Marina del Rey Rack is slated for Marina Marketplace, the shopping center off Route 90 and Lincoln Boulevard that includes Gelson's, Equinox and an AMC Dine-In Theatre. In Torrance, the new store will anchor Rolling Hills Plaza at Pacific Coast Highway and Crenshaw Boulevard. As reported by CBS Los Angeles, property managers say the Rack is meant to complement existing anchors and serve surrounding coastal and South Bay neighborhoods. Rolling Hills Plaza's management describes the center as a long-running community hub that stays focused on a mix of retail and services.
Jobs, Size And The Bigger Picture
Nordstrom's release notes that the Marina del Rey store will come in at about 30,000 square feet, and that the two new Racks are part of a broader California buildout. The company currently operates 26 Nordstrom stores and 69 Nordstrom Rack locations statewide, supporting nearly 11,000 jobs. JLL, which leases Marina Marketplace, has called the site "the ideal location" to serve coastal communities, a sign that certain Los Angeles submarkets are still drawing national retail names. For local workers, the new stores are expected to translate into seasonal and permanent retail jobs once buildouts and hiring get underway.
What Comes Next
So far, neither Nordstrom nor the shopping centers have released firm grand-opening dates. Lease buildouts and city permitting will drive the exact timelines for hiring and store construction. Nordstrom is expected to post job listings and more specific opening details on its careers page and the centers' websites as spring and summer 2027 get closer. This story will be updated when the company or property managers share concrete dates or announce community hiring events.
