Potterville’s Main Street is about to pull a double shift, serving up both lattes and lunges in the same spot. Perk N Press, a family-run business, is turning a storefront on West Main into a combined coffee shop and compact gym. Crews have been putting in counters and other interior finishes, and recent photos show the build-out already moving along. The owners have been teasing the concept on social media, though they have not set a firm opening date yet.
Permits and official notice
The City of Potterville’s May council packet flags a “new business downtown” at 217 W. Main and notes that the owner has started pulling permits for a remodel, according to the Potterville Council packet. The document lists the planned uses as a coffee shop, an adjacent gym and a laundromat, signaling that the building is being set up to cover multiple everyday needs for Main Street customers. The municipal filing also serves as the on-the-record confirmation that the block is being rehabbed for commercial use.
Construction, social posts and timing
Photos published by What Now Detroit show a countertop going into the unit at 217 W. Main, a clear sign that interior construction is underway. A Perk N Press team member told the outlet there is still no confirmed opening date. In the social post quoted in the story, one of the owners wrote, “My mom and I are building something really special together… a gym + coffee shop where you can fuel your body and your grind.”
Where it fits on Main Street
The storefront sits on the south side of West Main, a short walk from longtime local favorite Joe's Gizzard City Grill, putting Perk N Press right in the middle of Potterville’s compact downtown. That spot gives the new business access to lunchtime traffic and regulars who already come to Main Street for food and services. The coffee shop next to an easily accessible gym setup appears tailored to both quick in-and-out customers and locals who want to hang around a bit longer.
What it could mean for downtown
Potterville sits just south of Lansing and is reachable from I-69, which helps make Main Street appealing to small businesses that can draw both residents and drivers passing through, according to Homes.com. New tenants like Perk N Press can add to daytime activity on the strip and offer more amenities within walking distance for nearby neighbors. The city’s decision to highlight the project in its council packet also points to ongoing municipal interest in keeping downtown commercially active, per the Potterville Council packet.
What Now Detroit reports it has reached out to the owners for comment and that no menu or opening date has been released yet, though the social media posts make clear the spot will combine coffee offerings with fitness-focused drinks and programming. For now, Potterville residents can keep an eye on West Main for the last of the construction work and a formal opening announcement once permits and the build-out are wrapped up.
