A usually calm Taylor neighborhood turned into an active crime scene Sunday evening after police discovered a deceased person in the 1000 block of Price Street, prompting a full-scale suspicious-death investigation that stretched into the night.
Officers were called shortly after 5 p.m. and found the person in the Price Street area, according to KXAN. Neighbors reported a heavy law-enforcement presence, with crime-scene tape blocking off part of the street as detectives documented the area. Police have not released the victim’s name while the medical examiner works to confirm the person’s identity.
Taylor Police labeled the case a suspicious death and said detectives are working alongside the Texas Rangers, the Williamson County Crime Scene Unit, the district attorney’s office, and the Williamson County death investigator. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Aaron Koch at [email protected] or 512-352-5551 ext. 2228, the department said.
Local data and past investigations
Taylor’s March 2026 activity report shows 1,699 calls for service and 83 incidents logged as “suspicious persons/activity,” highlighting how often officers are asked to respond to calls that start with only a vague concern. Per the Taylor Police Department, suspicious-activity calls have remained a steady part of the department’s workload this year.
The town has also weathered several high-profile death investigations in recent years. In 2021, a spike in cases pushed Taylor’s homicide tally to five for the year in a single day, drawing in Texas Rangers to assist, as reported by FOX 7 Austin.
What’s next in the probe
Investigators say they are waiting on the medical examiner to confirm the deceased person’s identification and will release more details once that step is complete. So far, the department has not announced any arrests.
Police are asking residents with doorbell cameras or other video that may have captured activity on or near Price Street Sunday afternoon or evening to share the footage with detectives, according to KXAN. Officers emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone who noticed anything out of the ordinary to contact the department so detectives can track down leads. Officials said they will provide updates as verified information becomes available.
