Rachel Zegler is packing up her Olivier-winning Eva Perón and bringing her back across the Atlantic, with Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Evita set to land on Broadway next spring. The production will begin previews at the Winter Garden Theatre on February 27, 2027, ahead of an official opening night on March 25, 2027. For New York audiences, it is both a buzzy West End transfer and a hometown showcase for one of the city’s newest stage stars.

Producers confirmed the Broadway move in a press release that named the Winter Garden as the show’s home and locked in the preview and opening dates, according to the Shubert Organization. The statement notes that Jamie Lloyd’s production will be produced by The Jamie Lloyd Company and Michael Harrison, with additional casting and production details to be announced.

Lloyd’s staging turned into a full-on West End sensation at the London Palladium, drawing raves for its stripped-down approach and intense staging. Zegler’s performance earned her the Olivier Award for Best Actress and put the production firmly in the “must-transfer” column, per The Guardian.

Balcony Moment Won’t Make The Jump

One of the London run’s most viral flourishes will be staying in the U.K. Zegler’s nightly stunt of stepping onto an outdoor balcony to belt “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” to crowds gathered on the street outside the Palladium will not be recreated in New York. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and the creative team have indicated that the outdoor staging must be reimagined for Broadway and that trying to reproduce the London balcony moment at the Winter Garden would be unsafe, Playbill reports.

Tickets And Presales

American Express has signed on as the show’s official partner and is offering Amex Presale Tickets through Monday, June 1, with fan pre-sales beginning May 29, according to iHeartRadio Broadway. The general public gets its shot when tickets go on sale via Telecharge at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, June 1, Time Out notes.

For Zegler, a New Jersey native who made her Broadway debut in Romeo + Juliet in 2024, the transfer doubles as a homecoming. “I can’t wait to perform for my home, New York City,” she said in a statement, per The Associated Press. Producers say additional casting, including an Eva alternate, will be announced in the coming weeks and that full performance schedules will be posted on the show’s official site.
