A quiet late-night shift on San Antonio's North Side turned into an armed holdup Saturday when a ski-masked man walked into a business, pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded cash, according to police. The worker handed over the money, and the suspect bolted from the scene before officers could arrive. The search for the gunman is still underway.
As reported by WOAI, officers were called around 11:35 p.m. to the 300 block of North Hamilton after the employee told police the masked man stormed in, flashed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. After grabbing the money, the suspect took off on foot, and investigators say they are still working to track him down.
How Police Want the Public to Help
San Antonio’s Robbery Task Force is asking anyone who might have surveillance video or information about the holdup to contact Robbery Detectives at 210‑207‑0300 or call Crime Stoppers at 210‑224‑STOP (7867). The department advises people to call 9‑1‑1 for emergencies and to use the non‑emergency line for other tips, and asks witnesses who have video to let the reporting officer know so detectives can collect it, per the City of San Antonio.
Where This Fits in a Larger Pattern
This latest holdup adds to a run of robberies across San Antonio this spring, from a March daytime attack on a postal carrier that drew federal attention to late-night smoke-shop and convenience-store stickups. Local coverage has included the high-profile mail-carrier stickup and a separate smoke-shop heist. Detectives say community tips and surveillance video have been critical in other cases, and they are again urging anyone with information to speak up.
