Universal Orlando is turning the resort into a full-on summer movie museum, complete with a new Spielberg tribute and a busier-than-usual slate of seasonal entertainment circling the parks. The limited-time Spielberg Summer Blockbusters exhibit opens this Saturday and runs through Aug. 10, pairing film props, behind-the-scenes displays, and Instagram-ready photo ops with specialty food and parks-exclusive merchandise. The rollout lines up with upcoming studio releases and the return of nighttime spectacles and a mega-parade that are expected to bulk up park calendars all season.
In a press release via Universal Orlando Resort, the company says guests will be able to explore props and production stories from Spielberg films, including material tied to the studio’s upcoming release Disclosure Day, which hits theaters June 12. Visitors can also step into Jaws-inspired photo ops and browse a new exclusive merchandise collection. The same announcement details Illumination’s Minions & Monsters preview with interactive photo opportunities featuring two new Minions named Henry and James, plus special Minion Café menu items such as Irene’s Creamsicle Cheesecake Fold Over and a Monster Marshmallow Lemonade. The release adds that passholders and Florida residents can tap into limited-time ticket and hotel offers for the summer season.
Spielberg Exhibit and Minions Sneak Peeks
As reported by Orlando Weekly, the activation is built for hands-on nostalgia, giving fans moments with franchise staples that range from Amity-town photo ops to callbacks to Back to the Future and E.T. Over at Universal CityWalk, classic Spielberg films will screen on select nights between June 20 and Aug. 26, turning the shopping and dining district into a casual outdoor cinema for movie buffs. The local coverage notes the park-side previews are timed to line up with the films’ theatrical windows, with Minions & Monsters opening July 1 and Disclosure Day due in mid-June.
Nighttime Spectacles and the Mega Parade
Per Universal Orlando Resort, fan favorites are also coming back into the rotation. The Universal Mega Movie Parade and the CineSational nighttime lagoon show will run on select nights, and the Hogwarts Always projection on Hogwarts Castle is scheduled to return next Saturday. Those evening offerings are designed to pull guests into later hours and give visitors multiple anchors for a single park day, instead of everyone packing into the same time slots.
What This Means for Visitors
The timing fits into a wider tourism push for the season, with Visit Orlando spotlighting headline concerts, festivals, and destination programming that together aim to keep hotel rooms and restaurant tables busy into August, as outlined by Visit Orlando. For parkgoers, that translates to more must-see entertainment, but also to busier parks, so planning showtimes, reservations, and ticket options will matter more than usual this summer.
Expect heavier crowds on evenings and weekends while the Spielberg programming and Minions sneak peeks run through the season; the exhibit closes Aug. 10, and CityWalk screenings continue into late August.
