In Charlotte’s Lower South End, a quiet Tuesday night ended with a stolen car lodged inside a townhome at the Chambray at LoSo development on Blairhill Road.
Neighbors called police after the vehicle barreled into one of the units, coming to rest inside the home. There were no immediate reports of injuries, and MEDIC said it did not treat anyone at the scene, according to WSOC.
The owner of the vehicle told the station the car had been stolen on Friday. When he finally got the call that it had been found, the news came with a twist.
“They found my car, but the bad news was it’s in the middle of somebody’s house,” he said, adding that he was “kind of bummed” but also “relieved at the same time that justice was served,” as reported by WSOC.
Where It Happened
The crash hit the Chambray at LoSo townhomes along Blairhill Road in southwest Charlotte’s rapidly growing Lower South End corridor. The community’s sales office is listed at 463 Blairhill Road, according to Toll Brothers.
Police Response and Context
The question now is what happens next for whoever was behind the wheel.
CMPD’s 2025 public safety update notes that reported vehicle thefts have dropped from 7,442 in 2024 to 5,960 in 2025, a decline city officials often point to when talking crime trends.
Channel 9 reported it has asked police whether the person who took the car will face charges in connection with the crash and, as of the latest update, had not yet received a response, as reported by WSOC.
