Nothing spikes a school community’s blood pressure like reports of a stranger working the sidewalk near campus. That is what Olmsted Falls City Schools warned families about Thursday, after staff reported that a man had been seen trying to lure students near district buildings.
The district told parents and caregivers to be extra watchful during drop-off and pick-up, to remind children not to go anywhere with strangers, and to report suspicious behavior to school staff or law enforcement right away.
As reported by FOX 8, the district’s message did not identify a suspect or indicate whether anyone had been arrested. Officials said a person had been observed approaching students and attempting to persuade them to leave with him. According to the station, the district alerted local police and urged parents to keep a close eye on activity around school entrances.
What the district told families
The district’s public site lists its administrative office at 26937 Bagley Road along with a central phone line for families, and directs parents to an anonymous reporting tool for safety concerns, according to Olmsted Falls City Schools. Building staff are continuing normal arrival and dismissal routines while keeping communication lines open with families as the situation is monitored.
How families can respond
Parents who have immediate information or who witness suspicious behavior were asked to call 911. For non-emergencies, the Olmsted Falls Police Department can be reached at (440) 235-3145, per the Ohio law-enforcement directory. Safety experts encourage parents to teach children to refuse offers from strangers, stick to established routes and bus stops, and report any unsettling approaches to a trusted adult or the authorities, as noted by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
At this writing, the district alert cited in the FOX 8 piece and the district’s site are the only public accounts we located, and officials had not posted a separate, detailed statement online. We will update coverage if local police or school officials release further information.
