Houston robbery detectives are calling on the public for help after a robbery-carjacking on April 17 in the 4800 block of Sunflower St. Investigators have released surveillance stills that appear to show three people tied to the case and are hoping someone recognizes a face, an outfit, or even a walk. Crime Stoppers is putting up a cash reward for information that helps crack it.
What Detectives Released
According to Houston Police Robbery, the case is classified as a robbery-carjacking and happened around 9 p.m. on April 17. The social media post includes still images and short descriptions of three people investigators want to identify. One male is shown wearing a red shirt, dark pants, light-colored socks, and dark sandals.
How To Tip And What The Reward Looks Like
Tipsters whose information leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000, according to Crime Stoppers of Houston. Tips can be submitted by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477), using the Crime Stoppers mobile app, or filing an online tip. The organization emphasizes that callers can remain anonymous.
Why Detectives Are Pushing This Now
HPD posted the wanted notice on May 6 to bring fresh attention to the case and shake loose new leads, according to Houston Police Robbery. While Houston has seen some headline-making violent carjackings in recent years, overall carjacking reports have dropped from a 2021 peak, as the Houston Chronicle reported. Detectives say that even as numbers come down, individual cases remain a priority when clear images might help identify suspects.
What Detectives Want From The Public
Investigators are asking anyone with doorbell, dash-cam, or other surveillance footage from the 4800 block of Sunflower St on the evening of April 17 to hold onto it and contact Crime Stoppers. The Robbery Division’s online notice includes images and brief descriptions meant to jog memories and help put names to the people in those frames.
