Sunday started on a cool, clear note at Cincinnati’s Lunken Field (KLUK), with temperatures near 50°F and plenty of blue sky. By this afternoon, skies will turn mostly sunny and the high will climb to around 79, with a light east breeze near 3 mph. Outdoor plans and the afternoon drive should roll along without weather drama, although a thin rain jacket could come in handy late tonight if you are out past midnight, when a few brief sprinkles may show up.
Afternoon
The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies this afternoon, with temperatures pushing into the upper 70s and only light east winds. Humidity will run lower than it did earlier in the week, so the upper 70s should feel comfortably warm rather than sticky. Roads are expected to stay dry, and outdoor events can go ahead as scheduled.
Tonight Into Monday
After dark, a weak mid-level disturbance will pull in some extra moisture higher in the atmosphere, which will help spark mainly elevated showers and pockets of virga. That means some neighborhoods could see light sprinkles or showers that evaporate on the way down after midnight and into early Monday. The odds of measurable rain are low, so most overnight plans should be unaffected. As noted in our update yesterday, there are no watches or warnings in effect, and the overall pattern stays quiet through much of the week.
Week Ahead
Looking beyond Monday, expect a mostly dry run through Thursday, with highs generally in the upper 70s to low 80s. A warming trend late in the week will bring a better shot at showers and thunderstorms Friday into the weekend. If storms do fire up Friday or Saturday, brief heavy downpours and lightning would be the main concerns, so keep an eye on updated forecasts if you are planning outdoor activities later in the week. Checking the latest forecast before heading out will help you time your trip around any passing storms.
