An RV fire in Sylmar on Thursday afternoon left one woman in critical condition and drew a multi-unit Valley Bureau response, as firefighters raced in to contain flames before they could spread.
Fire Response And Patient Status
According to the incident alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews from Station 91 and Battalion 12 arrived to find the RV "fully involved" in fire. The department reported a knockdown at 4:22 p.m., with no exposure to nearby structures, and noted that one female patient was assessed, treated at the scene and rapidly transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Dispatched units included AR1, BC12, E275, E75, E91, RA7 and RA91, among others.
Vehicle Fires In Context
Vehicle fires can escalate quickly, especially inside RVs where interior materials and propane systems can fuel an already intense blaze. According to NFPA, highway vehicle fires numbered roughly 178,500 last year and resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths and injuries nationwide. Those figures highlight why fast medical care and a quick knockdown are critical when these incidents erupt.
