Police Post Case Bulletin, Ask Public To Step In
The Honolulu Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division has released surveillance stills and a case bulletin that lays out what officers say happened at about 10:56 a.m. on April 5. According to the bulletin, two people entered a store, selected merchandise and walked out without paying, and the male suspect then "assaulted the security guard while fleeing." The CID notice includes several images, including a shirtless man walking a leashed dog and a woman carrying a sling bag, and lists the case reference as Na Maka CID-26/0518, according to the Honolulu Police Department. Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the individuals to contact detectives or call Crime Stoppers.
Surveillance Clip Shows Suspects In Broad Daylight
Hawaii News Now published the video footage and a gallery of stills this week, along with comments from nearby residents who said they had not heard of any arrests connected to the case. The images in the public alert appear to show the male suspect wearing jeans and a gray cap and carrying a camouflage backpack, while the woman appears to be dressed in a gray tank top, khaki shorts and a black cap. The station's gallery places the incident at Waipahu Town Center, and its report includes brief interviews with neighbors rattled by the daytime confrontation in the busy shopping area.
