A Houston man who prosecutors say turned a weekend visit into a brutal ordeal in Comal County is headed to state prison for a long time.
Rolando Cisneros, 52, was sentenced to 45 years after pleading guilty to a slate of felony charges tied to a violent domestic abuse case. Prosecutors say the victim finally escaped after a weekend of repeated attacks and was able to reach safety with the help of a concerned citizen who called police.
According to the Comal County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and reporting by KENS5, Cisneros pleaded guilty in 2024 to aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and several related offenses. The DA’s office says that combination of charges, along with Cisneros’s prior record for family-violence assault, helped convince the judge to impose a lengthy prison term. Prosecutors also alleged Cisneros was affiliated with the Tango Blast gang, which they said factored into their strategy in presenting the case.
The victim told prosecutors Cisneros “hit and kicked, choked her and threatened to stab her,” describing a series of assaults over a weekend and several failed attempts to leave the relationship, according to KENS5. Prosecutors say evidence and interviews presented at sentencing convinced the court that a decades-long sentence was warranted.
What the Charges Mean
Aggravated kidnapping and many aggravated-assault offenses in Texas can carry serious time behind bars. Under state law, aggravated kidnapping is defined in the Penal Code, and aggravated assault can be charged as a second- or first-degree felony depending on how severe the conduct was and what was used in the attack.
For the legal nuts and bolts, the statutory elements and punishment ranges are outlined in Texas Penal Code §20.04 for aggravated kidnapping and Texas Penal Code §22.02 for aggravated assault. Those are the provisions prosecutors lean on when they argue for long sentences in violent cases like this one.
After the Sentence
With the judgment in place in Comal County court, state prison officials will now process Cisneros for placement within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system.
Local officials point to county and regional resources for people trying to get out of abusive situations. Information on available services is listed through Comal County.
For prosecutors, the 45-year sentence closes the courtroom chapter on what they describe as a pattern of escalating violence. For the victim, it marks a hard-won break from a dangerous relationship. Court records will reflect Cisneros’s plea and sentencing, and authorities say anyone with information about related offenses should contact local law enforcement.
