After more than four decades on Milwaukee’s far south side, the Airport Lounge has gone dark for good. The longtime gentlemen’s club, a familiar landmark for travelers and locals near Mitchell International Airport, closed permanently over the weekend and sent itself off with a plane-themed "final approach" party.
According to Urban Milwaukee, owners George and Nikolaos Tsitos posted a short social media farewell, thanking customers for an "incredible" run and confirming there would be no reopening. City assessment records cited in that report show the parcel remains in the Tsitos family’s hands, and Economy Airport Parking & Shuttle, which shared the lot, shut down earlier this month.
Site Already Marketed as a Redevelopment Play
The property quietly hit the market in October 2025, billed as a "unique redevelopment opportunity." The Coldwell Banker listing carries a $1.85 million asking price and describes a 7,081-square-foot tavern building, a fenced yard and roughly 520 parking spaces.
Paper Trail Shows Long Licensing History
Milwaukee Common Council records list Airport Lounge, Inc. and name George C. Tsitsos as the business agent in licensing filings, underscoring how long the club has been woven into the city’s permitting system. Combined with the commercial listing, the paperwork offers potential buyers a clear snapshot of what sits on the lot and what permissions have governed its use.
Neighbors and What Might Come Next
The site shares a corner with the Landmark 1850 Inn, the historic Milwaukee tavern that reopened under new ownership in 2024, as reported by TMJ4. Commercial property listings frame the Howell Avenue parcel as especially appealing thanks to its proximity to Mitchell International Airport, flexible zoning and its sprawling parking lot, details highlighted on CommercialCafe.
Neither the Tsitos family nor the listing broker immediately responded to requests for comment, according to Urban Milwaukee. For now, the closure caps the run of one of Milwaukee’s longest-running adult entertainment venues and turns the spotlight to whatever takes off next on the property.
