A quiet Aurora block got an abrupt wake-up call Friday when a house in the 4600 block of South Ivory Circle caught fire, drawing a fast, heavy response from firefighters and police.
Aurora fire crews, joined by Aurora police and units from South Metro Fire Rescue, hit the residential blaze with water and moved quickly through the home for a primary search, which came back clear. Neighbors were urged to steer clear of the area while responders worked the scene.
According to Aurora Fire Rescue, crews had “water on the fire” and confirmed that the “primary search of the residence is clear.” The department noted that additional updates would be released as more information is confirmed.
On-scene response
Aurora Police units and mutual-aid personnel from South Metro Fire Rescue backed up the response, according to the department’s post. South Metro Fire Rescue notes on its website that its communications and PIO team regularly supports neighboring agencies during larger incidents and helps coordinate resources when multiple departments are involved.
Recent fire activity in Aurora
The S. Ivory Circle fire lands in the middle of a busy run for Aurora firefighters. The city has seen several significant residential fires in recent weeks, including a three-alarm apartment blaze that displaced dozens late last month, as reported by Denver7. Coverage has also detailed three separate structure fires over a single weekend that displaced 16 residents, highlighting how stretched local crews have been, according to reporting in the Daily Herald.
Officials have not yet released a cause for the S. Ivory Circle blaze, and investigators were expected to examine the scene. This story will be updated as agencies release additional details.
