Bastet, a new two-story nightclub, has quietly slipped onto Spring Garden in the Poplar neighborhood, taking over a corner address that has seen its share of late-night action over the years. The venue pairs an open-format listening room on the ground floor with a dedicated club room upstairs, and it has been running preview nights in recent weeks ahead of a late June grand opening. The crew is aiming squarely at a music-first crowd, offering a darker alternative to the city’s cocktail-bright nightlife with a mix of national names and local selectors.
From Palmer Social Club and Trilogy to Bastet
According to Bastet, the club now operates at 601 Spring Garden St in the Poplar district. Documents from the U.S. Department of Justice identify the Palmer Social Club at that same address, and local listings later used the Trilogy name, making Bastet the latest chapter for this well-traveled nightlife corner.
Sound, Light and the Bones of the Room
As reported by Resident Advisor, Bastet kept the main dance floor’s original hardwood intact, then layered on custom lighting by SHUGAZI and Luminous Abstract. A salvaged set of 1990s JBL speakers has been rebuilt into a four-point sound system for the floor. “We’ve focused on preserving the bones and spirit of the rooms while reactivating it for the current era of Philly’s dancefloor community,” said Brady Ettinger, aka DJ Sylo, the club's director.
Lineups, Workshops and the Grand Opening
Confirmed bookings include Musclecars, Danny Daze, Principe Discos, JEWELSSEA, Stonie Blue and Jimpster, with local nights led by Philly selectors to keep open-format and club sets rotating. The venue has been “in a soft opening phase since the first weekend in May,” and promoters say formal programming runs through June with a grand opening set for the end of the month. The team also plans panels, workshops and earplug-fitting events to build a community around the room, as outlined by Resident Advisor.
