BermudAir is shifting its Central Florida nonstop service, trading the sprawling terminals of Orlando International Airport (MCO) for Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) later this year. The airline says it will operate from Sanford starting Oct. 31, 2026, with tickets slated to go on sale June 5. The change will affect travelers who already locked in trips and could shake up ground-transport plans for vacationers used to flying in and out of MCO.
What BermudAir Announced
In a statement to WESH, BermudAir described the shift as part of a new partnership with SFB intended to improve the overall travel experience while backing continued growth in the region. The airline told the station that its first Sanford flight is scheduled for Oct. 31, 2026, and that tickets will be available for purchase beginning June 5. Nicole Martz, an airport spokesperson, told WESH, “We are proud to welcome BermudAir and support its growth in our region.” The carrier also urged customers with existing bookings to verify their updated departure and arrival information.
How The Schedule Will Change
For now, BermudAir’s public schedule still shows Orlando service operating out of MCO, as listed by BermudAir. That detail makes clear the airline is relocating an existing route rather than opening a brand-new market. In practical terms, that means some passengers who booked MCO departures will need to confirm their new flight details and potentially rethink how they get to and from the airport.
BermudAir's Wider Expansion
The Sanford switch is part of a broader burst of network moves from BermudAir, including fresh Caribbean routes and seasonal additions to the U.S. East Coast. As reported by the Raleigh News & Observer, the carrier also announced it is restoring flights from Raleigh-Durham and expanding its Caribbean schedule, with CEO Adam Scott saying the airline is continuing to expand its Caribbean network. The outlet notes that tickets for the RDU service go on sale June 5, the same day BermudAir says Orlando-related changes will open for booking.
What Travelers Should Do Now
Anyone holding a ticket that includes Orlando this fall should closely review their itinerary and reach out to the airline or a travel agent if the reservation still lists MCO. According to WESH, BermudAir has asked passengers to confirm their updated departure and arrival airport details. Flyers should also build in more time on the ground, since Sanford sits north of downtown Orlando and has its own set of shuttle and rental-car options that differ from those at MCO.
Why Sanford?
Orlando Sanford International is frequently favored by leisure and low-cost airlines because it offers a smaller terminal environment and lower operating costs than MCO, according to Wikipedia. That cost structure, along with the airport’s status as an Allegiant focus city, helps make SFB an appealing choice for carriers that primarily court vacation travelers.
BermudAir says final schedules and booking links will be available by June 5, so anyone eyeing fall travel should keep an eye on their confirmations in the coming weeks. This story will be updated if the airline or Orlando Sanford International Airport releases additional details.
