Bexar County deputies impounded a BMW and combed the Walzem Road area after a suspect bolted from law enforcement during an attempted arrest earlier this month. The sheriff's office says the suspect, 18-year-old Kenyon Amare Lewis, is still on the run and wanted on multiple warrants.

According to Fox San Antonio, deputies with the sheriff’s STOP Unit tried to arrest Lewis on June 3. He allegedly spotted deputies, jumped out of the BMW and sprinted through a parking lot toward Walzem Road. Deputies chased him behind nearby buildings and along a greenbelt, and Bexar County Precinct 4 constables plus the San Antonio Police Department’s Eagle helicopter unit joined the hunt. After about an hour, Lewis had not been found and deputies had the BMW towed away, the outlet reports. The sheriff’s office is asking the public to help track Lewis down and urges anyone with information to contact its tip line.

Charges and penalties

The sheriff’s office says Lewis is wanted on multiple warrants, including aggravated robbery and theft. Aggravated robbery is treated as a first-degree felony under Texas law and can carry a punishment range that includes five to 99 years in prison, per Texas Penal Code §29.03.

How to report tips

Anyone with information on Lewis’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office tip line at 210-335-6000 or email [email protected], per Bexar County. Law enforcement asks that residents not approach the suspect and instead call authorities with any leads.
