According to CMPD News, officers were initially dispatched to an "assist medic" call in the 6800 block of Ciera Nichole Court. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from apparent trauma. The post identified Detective Trietley as the lead investigator and listed the case reference number as 20260618-0937-02.
CMPD News also said Crime Scene Search processed the scene while Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire and MEDIC assisted investigators at the location.

The Freedom Division covers portions of northwest Charlotte and the airport corridor, and CMPD lists the division office at 4150 Wilkinson Blvd on its patrol-area map.
