
A Monday afternoon near the Parkchester 6 train station turned violent when two Bronx teenagers were attacked by Virginia Park, with one stabbed and another shot, according to police. The victims, a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old, were taken to Jacobi Hospital. Officers rushed the younger teen there in a squad car, while EMS transported the 19-year-old. Authorities say both are expected to recover.
What police say
Officers responded just after 4:15 p.m. to a 911 call reporting an assault inside Virginia Park off Hugh J. Grant Circle, as reported by News 12. According to the NYPD, the 17-year-old suffered a stab wound to the lower back and the 19-year-old was hit with a gunshot wound to the torso. Police drove the 17-year-old to Jacobi Hospital, while EMS took the 19-year-old there. Both were listed in stable condition and are expected to recover.
Parkchester's recent violent incidents
The attack comes amid a string of violent incidents in and around Parkchester that have left neighbors on edge. An April 30 fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old in the Soundview/Parkchester area was previously reported, and later coverage focused on the court fallout involving a local social-media personality.
