The clock is running for Sacramento County voters who got a signature verification notice in the mail. If the signature on your vote-by-mail return envelope is missing or does not match the one on file, your ballot is on hold until you return a signed verification statement. County elections officials say those corrections must arrive by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, for your ballot to make the cut. In close contests, these last-minute cures can tip the balance as counties wrap up the official canvass for the June 2 primary.
Signature Verification Deadline Approaching
If your ballot signature is missing or doesn’t match your voter registration, you’ll receive a notice with instructions to fix it. Corrections must be received no later than June 24, 2026 at 5 p.m. https://x.com/i/status/2067713966860890343
The county flagged the issue in an advisory on X, telling voters that anyone who gets a notice will also get step-by-step instructions on how to fix a missing or mismatched signature. As posted by Sacramento County, voters need to get those corrections back by the deadline if they want their ballot counted.
How to fix a flagged ballot
Under state law, county elections officials must reach out to voters whose return envelopes are unsigned or whose signatures do not compare to the one on file, then give them a short window to "cure" the problem. According to the California Secretary of State, that cure period for this election runs through 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Where to submit your verification
Sacramento County is taking signed verification statements by mail, fax, online and in person. Voters can also hand-deliver the form to any open Vote Center or official ballot drop box. As outlined by Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections, the form includes a direct online submission link through OmniBallot at ca.omniballot.us.
What happens if you miss the window
If a signed cure form does not arrive by the deadline, that ballot may not be counted during the official canvass and certification that follow. The Secretary of State's guidance and county election calendars set a tight timetable so officials can finish the canvass and certify results on schedule, which leaves little room for late fixes. For statewide rules and deadlines, see the California Secretary of State.
