Atlanta police are asking for help from the public as they try to track down two women wanted in connection with an aggravated assault in southwest Atlanta that left a woman bruised and terrified after a gun threat.
Investigators say it happened on March 1 in the 1900 block of Bent Creek Way SW as the victim was leaving her apartment. According to police, one woman assaulted the victim while another pulled out a firearm and threatened to “shoot the place up.” No shots were fired, but officers documented scratch marks on the victim’s chest.
This week, detectives released photos of the two women they are trying to identify, according to a press release shared with FOX 5 Atlanta. The images were distributed through Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta, which notes that tipsters can stay anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward. Guidance on how to submit tips by phone, online, or text is available on the Crime Stoppers page hosted by the Atlanta Police Foundation.
Area Has Seen Other Recent Violence
The same stretch of Bent Creek Way has already been on investigators’ radar this year. In January, a deadly shooting in the 1900 block killed a 24-year-old woman, according to 95.5 WSB. In that and other recent cases, neighbors and police have urged witnesses to speak up, stressing that home security and business surveillance footage can play a crucial role in tracking down suspects.
What Investigators Say About The March Attack
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, police say the woman who came to the victim’s door had been involved in a years-long dispute with her. Two unidentified women were with her, investigators said. One of those women allegedly pointed a gun and threatened to “shoot the place up,” while the other attacked the victim. The case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced.
