Uptown workers have a new way to power through the weekday grind. Dank Bowls, a Charlotte meal-prep business, has rolled out a compact counter inside Knowledge Perk in The Alley at Latta Arcade, serving hot, chef-crafted protein bowls aimed squarely at the lunch crowd. The new outpost started service on Tuesday, June 2 and turns out hot-and-ready bowls Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., alongside frozen meal-prep bowls and a subscription option for customers who want regular restocks.
In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, owner Daniel Richtand said customers can look for hearty portions built around ancient grains, with meals made without preservatives or artificial additives. According to the Observer, the Uptown counter sticks to that weekday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. window for hot bowls, and every order comes with two toppings plus the shop's signature CLG-1 sauce, a Greek yogurt-based mix of cilantro, lime and garlic.
What's on the menu
The lineup leans into proteins, whole grains and legumes, with bowls sporting names like Cajun Chronic, Rotisserie OG, Obsidian Boar and Luck of the Irish. As outlined on Dank Bowls, those builds combine ingredients such as smoked sausage and ham hock, shredded chicken thighs, black lentils and pearled barley.
How it works
Individual bowls run between $15.50 and $16.50, while subscription plans deliver six, nine or 12 bowls every two weeks, with per-bowl prices starting at about $14.17, according to the Charlotte Observer. Customers can pick up orders at the Uptown counter or at a South End pickup spot inside Fresh Monkee, and the company runs Sunday evening deliveries for subscription orders. The mix of grab-and-go hot lunches and frozen restocks is built to slide into a packed work schedule.
Where it fits in Uptown
The Alley at Latta Arcade has been reimagined as an indoor street-eats corridor, lined with small counter concepts that trade in quick service. That makes Knowledge Perk, and the space at 320 S. Tryon, a logical landing spot for a lunch-focused operation like Dank Bowls.
For Uptown workers hunting a no-fuss, protein-forward lunch, Dank Bowls adds another option to the midday shuffle, with a menu that will rotate week to week. The kitchen plans to post new bowls and weekly restock windows as the concept settles into the Uptown routine.
