
A fiery three-vehicle crash on Ladd Road near Tully Road outside Modesto left one person dead and multiple people injured yesterday, turning a rural stretch of roadway into a chaotic emergency scene. Crews arrived to find one vehicle fully engulfed in flames and spent hours battling the fire, treating victims and documenting the wreckage. The collision shut down Ladd Road for several hours while investigators worked through the night.
First responders said they were dispatched just after 10 PM and arrived to find a three-car collision with one vehicle on fire, according to the Modesto Fire Department. Crews extinguished the blaze and provided care to eight people. One patient was declared dead at the scene, one person was flown to a trauma center and the others were taken to local hospitals, according to CBS Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol said it is investigating how the collision happened and has remained on scene processing evidence. The agency asked drivers to avoid the area while the roadway was closed and crews cleared the wreckage, as reported by KCRA.
