Breakroom Coffee has quietly set up a new counter inside The Exchange in downtown El Paso, carving out a caffeine corner among the market's vintage and secondhand sellers. The compact operation is geared toward shoppers and nearby workers looking for something beyond the usual national chains, bringing Breakroom’s matcha-forward drinks and rotating seasonal specials right into the middle of the city.
According to El Paso Inc., the counter sits at 219 E. San Antonio currently operates daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The report notes that the coffee setup shares floor space with secondhand clothing and collectibles vendors inside The Exchange.
Per Breakroom Coffee's website, the business also runs an online store and lists a Montana Avenue address, indicating the Exchange counter is a complement to its other retail efforts. The cafe sells beans and merch online, a revenue stream that helps support its pop-ups and market counters.
Menu highlights and prices
The Exchange counter leans hard into matcha, with options like citrus matchas and a Paloma Matcha built with grapefruit, lime, and Mexican Squirt soda. Other standouts include a Maple Shoyu, a "Morning Noise" double espresso over ice with café de olla syrup, and rotating seasonal specials such as Disney-inspired drinks and a Cocoa Puffs beverage. Most drinks land in the $6 to $8 range, according to El Paso Inc.
Why the move matters
Listings for Breakroom's prior Montana Avenue spot show shorter weekday hours than the new Exchange operation, per Apple Maps, so the downtown counter marks an expansion into evening service and market traffic. Trading a standalone storefront for a market stall could also give the team more freedom to rotate experimental drinks and test seasonal menus without the overhead of a full cafe.
Breakroom is located inside The Exchange at 219 E. San Antonio during market hours, and customers can check Breakroom Coffee's website for bean sales and menu updates.
