Silver and black took over downtown San Antonio on Tuesday night as Spurs fans flooded Hemisfair’s Red McCombs Community Court for a high-energy pep rally ahead of the NBA Finals showdown with the New York Knicks. The hourlong event mixed DJ sets, giveaways and nonstop chants while fans crowded into Tower Park, wrapping up a week of watch parties and pop-ups that have effectively turned downtown into a full-blown playoff festival corridor.
Per Hemisfair, the rally was set for 7 p.m. and came stocked with free coffee and Taco Palenque tacos while supplies lasted, along with special appearances and giveaways on the Red McCombs Community Court. The listing billed it as a high-energy celebration of the Spurs’ advance to the 2026 NBA Finals, and fans on site described the scene as both festive and tightly run.
Official watch parties and fan hubs
The Spurs are hosting official watch parties at The Rock at La Cantera and additional viewing events at Frost Bank Center for away games, according to Spurs. Frost Plaza at The Rock is slated to feature big-screen viewing, giveaways and family-friendly activities, while the team’s downtown pop-up shop at La Zona is offering playoff gear. Team officials are urging fans to RSVP for limited-capacity events and to use the Spurs app for entry and capacity updates.
River Walk art and local promotions
Bridges along the River Walk are dressed in retro, Fiesta-style Spurs designs, and local restaurants are rolling out Spurs-themed specials, San Antonio Express-News reports. Participating spots, from Pluckers to Taco Palenque, are tying post-win tacos, wing deals and other limited promotions to the Spurs’ Finals push. The coverage also notes a downtown pop-up fan shop and expanded merchandise offerings tailored to the championship run.
With festivities ramping up, organizers and city officials are pressing fans to celebrate safely after a recent postgame street celebration turned deadly. The family of a 17-year-old who fell from a pickup during postgame honking told KSAT the teen later died; San Antonio police say the case remains under investigation. Event coordinators are reminding crowds not to climb on vehicles and to follow posted safety guidance during large gatherings.
Local TV crews captured the Hemisfair rally from just about every angle; for a video recap, see KENS5. The league’s Finals release confirms Game 1 is set for Wednesday, June 3, at 8:30 p.m. ET, with the series tipping off at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, per NBA.
