Detectives Seek Dash-Cam Footage And Witness Tips
According to the Washington State Patrol, detectives want anyone who drove through that area of SR 97 around that time to review any dash-camera or phone video for possible clues. Anyone with tips or footage is asked to contact Detective Conor Schwilke at [email protected], as reported by FOX 13 Seattle.
Where And When It Happened On SR 97
Local reporting says the collision happened near the start of State Route 97 in Klickitat County at about 6:15 a.m., when a northbound vehicle struck the tricycle rider and did not stop. The Washington State Patrol confirmed the deadly hit-and-run and is asking the public for any information that could help identify the vehicle or the driver, according to KIRO 7.
Legal Stakes
Under Washington law, leaving the scene of an accident that results in death is a felony; RCW 46.52.020 makes failing to stop in such cases a Class B felony. That statute also requires drivers involved in crashes that cause injury or death to stop, provide identifying information, and render reasonable assistance, per state code.
