Dallas police are asking for the public's help after a violent robbery inside an Oak Cliff Texaco on May 10, releasing surveillance images that show two men pulling handguns on a customer who was playing a game machine in the convenience store.
According to investigators, the video shows the men pointing their weapons at the victim, then grappling with him, hitting him in the head with a handgun and stealing his wallet. Officers say the pair then ran eastbound on Laureland toward University Hills.
Dallas Police Det. Eduardo Lopez said he believes the suspects likely live close to the station and is counting on the footage to jog someone's memory. "I need their names. We just need their names to identify them," Lopez said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dallas Police Det. Janine Adams at [email protected], according to FOX 4.
Similar incidents in the neighborhood
This latest case lands in a neighborhood that has already seen its share of convenience store stickups. In mid January, there was a separate armed robbery at a north Oak Cliff shop where detectives again pushed out surveillance stills and asked residents to help identify a suspect. That earlier report noted how frequently investigators lean on doorbell and shop cameras to plug holes in a timeline and urged locals to review any recordings that might show suspects coming or going, as reported by gunman snatches cash drawer in north Oak Cliff heist.
What police released
In the Texaco case, police circulated stills that show one suspect dressed head to toe in gray and the other in all black. Both are seen aiming handguns at the victim inside the store before taking off. Investigators say the two ran eastbound on Laureland toward University Hills and are hoping neighborhood tips will put names to the faces, as reported by FOX 4.
How to pass along tips
If you were in the area that night, saw anything unusual or have video from a doorbell or security camera, police want to hear from you. They ask that you email Det. Janine Adams at the address above or call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477). The Dallas Police Department maintains a 24 hour tip line and encourages anonymous reporting through Crime Stoppers and its online portal, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Detectives say the surveillance images are clear and are banking on someone in the community recognizing the men. This story will be updated if police release additional images or announce any arrests.
